The Morning After- Highlights and What’s Next?

Mimmo Morfeo, who scored the winning goal yesterday vs. Livorno

As you all know by now Parma got an important win over Livorno yesterday. The score was 3-2. To see highlights and a brief preview of Parma’s next encounter read the rest of the article.

Here are the highlights of the match:

One bad thing came from the match though. On video replay after the game Portguese defender Fernando Couto was caught spitting at an opponent, which the referee didn’t see during the game. He will most likely get a lengthy ban, and rightly so. There is no need for that kind of behavior in football.

Next up is a tough away encounter in Sicily vs. Palermo on Wednesday. We will probably have no supporters at the match, because let’s face it, Parma and Palermo are really far from each other and it is a weekday, which means Italian stadiums will not be filled (except for the Roma-Lazio derby). The important thing for Parma is that Domenico Morfeo seems to be back in form and has regained the trust of Di Carlo, which means he should get the start in Sicily. Morfeo joked yesterday that since the squad was “in ritiro” (remember, the Italian version of solitary confinement. All players leave their families for a week and go up to the hills of a remote location to just concentrate on football) all week and won they should go “in ritiro” every week and they’ll win the scudetto.

The last time Parma played Palermo in Sicily it finished 4-3 in favor of the Gialloblu and proved to be another Claudio Ranieri masterpiece. Here are the highlights to remember that game:
