Cuper’s First Day

By: Francesco | March 12th, 2008

It’s like a new day in Parma. Well, it is a new day. All Parma fans are enthusiastic about the hiring of Hector Cuper. Today was his official presentation and first training session.

Cuper and Ghirardi find out they both like Prosciutto

In the interview he said that he was confident Parma could save themselves from the drop, and that the squad has very good players. He said that he needs to improve the defense (it needs major work) because his teams have always had a solid defense. He also said he needs to transmit a winning mentality to the players (something that Ranieri was good at last season, and something that Di Carlo was terrible at this season) because even though football is a physical game a big part of it is mental, and these players need a motivator that will get them to play their best. He knows Domenico Morfeo and Bernardo Corradi, because they were both at Inter, even though Morfeo was loaned out and Corradi was quickly shipped out to Lazio in exchange for Hernan Crespo. A good thing that can come of Cuper’s hiring is the re-emergence of Morfeo. Morfeo is an important player for this team, and since Cuper knows him, it would be nice for Morfeo to start being a protagonist again. If we are going to save ourselves, we need players that will make the difference, and Morfeo is one of those players. Today he also went through his first training session with the team. I’m really looking forward to the Livorno game this weekend to see how Cuper does. This could really be a turning point for our season.

Here are some pictures from todays training session:

Christ, I think Ghirardi should join the training sessions with the team as well… Or he should give some promise - like to lose one chin per win till the end of the season
