This summer is heating up for Parma. Even after the 2-1 defeat in a recent friendly, there is something to smile about. No, it’s not a hot Prosciutto sandwich…it’s transfer time!
Manchester City and Parma have reached an agreement on the terms of a one year loan deal for the 23-year old Bulgarian striker, Valeri Bojinov. This young talent had an injury riddled two years spell at City but has shown promise in during his time at Lecce, Fiorentina and Juventus. He was the youngest foreign player to start in the top level of Italian Calcio back in 2002 when he was 15 years old. His time at Lecce was marked by incredible success as he scored 16 goals in all appearances. His youth and enthusiasm should fit in perfectly with Parma’s style. In all reports I have read, Bujinov seems really optimistic about the move and is seemingly excited about a return to Serie A.
Also, Christian Panucci has been snatched up to bolster a young defense and bring some grit to the newly promoted Gialloblu. Parma seems to be making major moves by acquiring a tough defender who has seen some top flight matches during his time at Roma. His pace may be questionable and is prone to mistakes; he is still a major asset on defense and is capable of bolstering the Parma backs.
