We’re in deep trouble
By: Francesco | April 28th, 2008Just as things couldn’t get any worse, they did. More after the jump.
HIGHLIGHTS
As you can see, Parma lost a crucial game to Reggina 2-1, and now we have at least one foot in Serie B. Cigarini put us ahead with a penalty, then Paci decided to commit a stupid unnecessary foul on Costa while he was already carrying a yellow, and he was sent off. Then a shot from outside from Cirillo took a wild bounce and surprised Bucci, who parried it but Cozza was there to finish. Cozza then put the Amaranto ahead with another goal, taking a deflection before soaring into the net.
Parma now need a miracle to escape the drop. It would be worse, we could be Livorno (sorry Marco), but we are in a bad position. We are second to bottom on 31 points, and play Genoa at home next, a match where we absolutely have to win, seeing as we face Fiorentina and Inter after that. There was even talk that Ghirardi was thinking of firing the Coop and bringing back Baldy Di Carlo back for the remaining games, but the Lord of Prosciutto refuted those rumors today, saying Cuper is staying until the end of the season.
The squad just lacks discipline, something that Cuper was supposed to bring but we haven’t seen it yet, and motivation. Seeing the Reggina players on Sunday fight for every ball and put in maximum effort made me wonder why the Gialloblu’ players were not playing like that. Reggina were playing like they actually wanted to stay in Serie A. We did not.
Relegation would be a disaster, seeing as our roster is much better than most teams in the bottom half of the table, and Serie B is a place where we haven’t been since 1990. It would be a true tragedy. Let’s hope our players start to wake up, because the Tardini will be full on Sunday and the Gialloblu’ have to get back on track.
AVANTI CROCIATI!

Franc’, this is getting stupid man. Losing both Livorno AND Parma, I’d hate to see that happen. I’m still counting on Empoli and Catania to take Reggina and Parma’s place.

This is terrible. Parma should be mid-table, easy. Gherardi has to take some blame for hiring Di Carlo before the season. The team IS better than this.
“The Hell of Serie B”… It’s like a Fulci movie without the zombies and gore.

Parma is a lot better than this, and it’s incredible how Cuper is failing so miserably. Maybe Juve can loan you guys Ranieri for the rest of the season, cause we’re good.
But at this point, it looks inevitable. It’s a shame though, cause it’s a club with such rich history.Serie B is a whole different world…I’m a Bari fan so I’ve been following it. (pre-calciopoli) Here’s to hoping Parma and Bari get promoted next year if the drop happens…

too bad, but the chance of Parma to avoid relegation without playoff is very slim, a win against Genoa and Inter would be a help…

With today’s Roma win over Sampdoria, forget that Inter shall donate us points. And Fiore desperately fight for the 4th place, they won’t drop points against us.
I really hope that we shall spend only one season at Serie B. I think that it may be bad, but we need it - to revaluate what we have and what we don’t and how to use it.

I predicted it all season long ……. I said that the race for the Serie A would come down to the last day, with Parma beating Inter, to stay in Serie A … and With that, roma would win the title.
it all looks like its going to happen. Roma deserve the title … parma need to stay in serie A …. Inter dont deserve it, not enough italians, and Catania should pay for what they did last season …. Heres to wishfull thinking

Also, does anyone else think its time some rich Italian buys parma, and brings it back to its glory …. They have been doing so bad the past few seasons …. WOuld love to see someone new come in, and fix it all up … i also think a new stadium would be great!

Francesco, your a rational guy, why fire the coach before the last game? I remeber this next game in the first half was potential three points for Parma, but instead it seemed their season went south, I still think they have it in them, but losing a coach so close to the end is a tough break, no?
